The following checklist is intended to remind you of important considerations relevant to each of the resources listed. Find the resource you're dealing with and consider the related question(s).

JOINT DEVELOPMENT
q   Have you provided documented evidence indicating that
      the property was reserved for transportation use before
      or at the same time it was designated a Section 4(f)
      resource?

AIR RIGHTS
q   Has a structural support been placed on Section 4(f)       property?
q   Is there a structure undermining the purposes for which
      the Section 4(f) property was established?
q   Is there a structure adversely affecting the historic
      integrity of a historic site?

TEMPORARY OCCUPANCY OF A HIGHWAY ROW
q   Have you provided documentation as protection against       an unforseeable designation of the project area as a
      Section 4(f) resource?

LATE DISCOVERY
q   Have you coordinated your efforts with FHWA prior to
      Section 4(f) approval?

LATE DESIGNATION
q   Have you provided documentation of thorough
      communication with the likely federal, state and local
      park official with jurisdiction?

WETLAND MITIGATION
q   Have the mitigation efforts been requested in a request       and compliance statement by the official with jurisdiction?
q   Has the DOT reviewed the proposal and the official with
      jurisdiction's request and compliance statement?

TUNNELING
q   Does the activity impact the purposes for which the       affected resource was established?
q   Does the activity adversely affect the historic integrity of       a historic site or an archeological site that warrants
      preservation in place and is on or eligible for the NRHP?

BOAT ACCESS RAMPS
q   Does the transportation project associated with a boat
      access ramp involve a possible Section 4(f) use?

TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT ACTIVITIES
q   Does the transportation project involve TEAs 1, 4, 7 or      10?  (Pedestrian & bicycle facilities; scenic, historic      programs or tourist facilities; historic transportation      buildings, structures or facilities; archeological planning
     or research)
q   Are scenic easements, scenic and historic sites, or historic       structures incorporated whithin land required for       transportation purposes? (TEAs 3, 6 and 12)
